The Men’s Basketball team jumped out to a big early lead that it couldn’t hold on Tuesday against Clark, but the Judges were able to put together a big second half to defeat the Cougars 82-71. With the win, Brandeis, who was ranked third in the Div. III polls before the start of the game, moved to 7-0 on the season.

Playing without the services of guard and co-caption Steve DeLuca ’08, the Judges were led by Terrell Hollins ’10, who scored 21 points, and was one of four Judges to score in the double digits. Guard Andre Roberson ’10 added 20 points, while Stephen Hill ’08 had 13.

The Judges came out of the gates incredibly strong, and opened up a 13-0 lead, before Clark finally got on the scoreboard with a three-pointer. Down 15-3, Clark then went on an 18-6 tear, and the Judges went into halftime down 38-36.

However, the second half was a different story. A 20-7 run put the Judges up 63-50, and though Clark tried to inch back into the game, the Cougars never cut their deficit to fewer than 9 points.

Hill led the team with seven rebounds, while co-captain Joe Coppens ’08 added four rebounds, to go along with his 11 points. Coppens was also a perfect six-for-six from the free throw line. In the assists category, co-captain Kwame Graves-Fulgham ’08 led the team with six, while Florian Rexhepi ’08 had five in just 15 minutes of playing time.

Brandeis next faces Amherst, at home on Dec. 8. The Judges will then play Curry College on Dec. 11, before breaking for the holidays. Upon their return, they will face Elms College on Jan. 7.
