Baseball
Lou Piniella signed a three year deal to manage the Chicago Cubs.

After being swept in the ALCS, Oakland fired manager Ken Macha. Macha was reportedly not favored by the players.

A warrant is out in the Dominican Republic for White Sox Shortstop Juan Uribe for his involvement in a shooting of two men.

Randy Johnson will have surgery on his back.

Football
After a 23-21 loss on Sunday, Baltimore fired offensive coordinator Jim Fassel. Baltimore has a 4-2 record, but is ranked 28th in offensive yards in the NFL.

New Orleans defeated Philadelphia on the final play for their fifth win of the season. Brees kneeled for three straight plays from the 9-yard line with 2 minutes left before Carney kicked a field goal to break the tie.

Chicago managed to stay undefeated after being down 23-3 at one point. Two fumble returns for a touchdown and a punt return for a touchdown allowed Chicago to make a marvelous comeback. Arizona kicker Neil Rackers then missed a field goal with the clock winding down.

Wide Receiver Koren Robinson was suspended one year for violating the NFL substance abuse policy.

Marcus Vick, the brother of Michael Vick, was activated by Miami from their practice squad for this week.

Basketball
New Knick Jared Jeffries will be out close to two months with a broken wrist.
