Letter to the editor: Arming the cops

Dear Editor,
Wow, I cannot actually believe you have students that believe a highly trained officer does not need a firearm! Cops needs guns because college kids and criminals have guns!
I hope your school does not end up like VT. Say thank you to an officer for saying nothing will harm you as long as I am here protecting you. They are not all “ticket” happy guys/gals. Officers serve a purpose and need to be there.
Kindly rethink your stance on this guy. Stick the writer of the article in the parking lot one night, alone, with night vision, no cell phone, a duty belt with a baton, some OC and no gun and see how he fairs.
