[LIVEBLOG] Men’s DIII Basketball, 2nd Round, Brandeis v. Bowdoin – JUDGES WIN!!!

Hey everyone! Coming to you live from Gosman, the Judges get ready for their second game against the Bowdoin Polar Bears, who crushed their opponent here last night.

The starting lineups: For Bowdoin: Andrew Hippert, Kyle Jackson, Jordan Fliegel, Andrew Sargeantson, and Mike Hauser. For the Judges: Kwame Graves-Fulgham, Joe Coppens, Stephen Hill, Kevin Olson, and Terrell Hollins.

First Half

Great defense early on, with Brandeis leading by just a 4-2 margin.

Great drive to the hoop by Kevin Olson, who could have a big game.

Coppens again turns a broken play into a big three to make it 8-5.

Florian Rexhepi, last night’s hero has just checked into the game with just over 13 minutes remaining in the first half. Big three from him right off the bat.

The Judges have established the tone of this game, making it a 15-7 contest early on.

Nice feed into Rich Magee, to make it a ten point Brandeis lead.

Brandeis is doing a good job of offensive rebounding, and has turned a few missed buckets into free throws and second chance points.

Mark Phillips finally ends the drought for Bowdoin.

Olson hits another big bucket to bring the lead back to double digits.

Lots of substitutions with Coppens and Hollins coming back in with about 7 minutes left in the half.

Terrell Hollins saves a sure out of bounds ball and then adds to the Brandeis lead on the next two drives. Judges lead, 30-19.

Graves-Fulgham sneaks in there for an offensive rebound off a miss for an easy 2.

Coppens nails a trey as the Judges take a 13 point lead and carry all of the momentum at the half.

Coppens and Hollins lead all scorers with 8 points, while the Judges shot 48.4 percent for the half to Bowdoin’s 37 percent. The Judges also dominated the glass, out rebounding Bowdoin by a 20-12 margin.

Second Half

Bowdoin is looking to make a run, only trailing by 9 and scoring the first 6 points of the half.

Bowdoin is making this a game, cutting the lead to just 7 points.

With 14 minutes remaining, Bowdoin has made this a 3 point margin. They’ve come out strong and have dominated the game since the start of the second half.

Now it’s a one point game, 13:41 left. Bowdoin is on a 14-2 run.

Bowdoin has taken the lead with 13 minutes left in the game. The Judges finally take a time out, after a 16-2 run by the Polar Bears.

The Judges have been taking too many outside shots while the Polar Bears have dominated inside the paint in this half

Brandeis gets a nice spark from Rexhepi, who drives to the basket and goes to the line to tie it up and again give the Judges the lead, 39-38.

Rich Magee brings the momentum back to the Judges, with a huge steal and a nice bucket after a nice dish from Terrell Hollins. It’s 41-38, Brandeis lead.

Another steal and fast break bucket by Rich Magee, who is having a great game in limited minutes.

Magee blocks a shot and Deis gets the steal. Deis opens up a 7 point lead.

The Judges enter a crucial point of the game with about 8 minutes remaining up 5.

Coppens nails a three, bringing his point total to 11 and putting the Judges back into the drivers seat with an 8 point lead.

Kevin Olson hits another three, also giving him 11 for the game.

The Judges are now back to a double digit lead, 55-45, after a strong 8 minutes of play.

Terrell Hollins caps off a huge momentum change by finishing strong and adding the free throw to put the Judges up 11.

Coppens really opens this one up, with a huge clutch three in the corner. The Judges have stepped up to take control of this game after floundering for a bit. It’s 61-47 with 3:40 left.

What a turnaround! The Judges just can’t miss a shot after starting ice cold against the Polar Bears to start the half.

After a pair of free throws by Andre Roberson, the Judges have a commanding 19 point lead with just over a minute left.

The backup squad takes the court, as the Judges celebrate a hard fought victory.

JUDGES WIN, 68- 53!!! On to Amherst next weekend… Olson, Coppens lead all scorers, while the Judges shot 14-16 from the line, and 43.6 percent from the floor overall.
