Brandeis women’s tennis took their show on the road and left with a standing ovation, stopping Roger Williams’s 14 game winning streak in a 9-0 rout.

The day started off with Brandeis sweeping the doubles matches, with the number one pairing of Colleen Donnelly ’08 and Rachel Rosman ’11 sweeping aside the Hawk pair of Caitlyn Leone and Leah Ribchinsky 8-1. Excitement developed in the number three doubles match as the duo of Jennifer Levine ’08 and Ariana Sanai ’10 narrowly beat out the Williams pair of Megan Harrington and Joanna Nettlefield 9-8 (7-3 in the tie breaker). Mackenzie Gallegos ’11 and Gabrielle Helfgott ’09 took the number two match 8-5.

The singles play saw easy sailing for the Judges, the easiest coming in the number three match as Helfgott coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 rout. Rachel Rosman ’11 took the number one singles match 6-1, 6-1, and Donnelly won the number two match by the same score. The toughest match came in the number six match up as Emily Weisberger ’10 dropped the first set 3-6 but rebounded to take the next set 6-1 to force the 10-3 tie breaking win, completing the Judges sweep.

Brandeis is now 8-4 on the season while Rogers Williams is 14-2. The Judges return home where Brandeis plays host to regional rivals Tufts on April 5th at 3 pm and then enjoy a break before playing host to Wellesley on the 10th at 3:30.

Men’s tennis returns to action with a home match against Trinity on the 5th at 11 am before traveling to Amherst College the next day.
