Despite a rocky conclusion to the 2004 campaign, the Brandeis Golf Team is well equipped for a potentially great season. Coach Bill Shipman feels confident that the arrival of three Freshman recruits, Aaron Hattenbach (Santa Monica, CA), Nick Wallen (Aquinnah, MA), and Ralph Harary (Cotuit, MA), as well as the return of Senior co-captain Josh Levine from abroad will help the team tremendously. Shipman believes that overall we think this is our deepest team, with at least eight players who can start and shoot a low score on any round.

With other players from last years squad, including co-captain Nate Goldman 06, Adam Green 07, Alex Botwick 08, Dan Shani 08, and Jeff Stein 08 returning, experience is an important factor in Brandeis favor. Other players include Nicholas Ng (Springfield, NJ) 09 and David Milch 08. According to their coach, the underclassmen all have a chance to start and be team medalist in any event we play. Each has strengths in their game and should improve this season.

Of the incoming Freshmen, the Coach said that Hattenbach is the most tournament-tested and comes from Southern California, so we hope he can adjust his California experience to good scores here in New England college golf. He also expressed confidence in Wallen and Harary as a result of their experience with New England weather and course conditions.

The Golf Team has a relatively short regular season schedule in comparison to other fall sports teams, yet they will be one of the most interesting teams to watch on campus, as each match will crucial to the teams overall success. Their first two matches of the season will take place in Maine during the weekend of September 10-11 against Bowdoin College.
