Kip Wells of the Pittsburgh Pirates was diagnosed with a blood clot close to his right arm. If he has surgery, he will miss five to eight months, virtually the entire season.
Colorados Aaron Cook missed chunks of the previous two seasons with a similar blood clot, but returned better than ever last year.
The MLB opened its first Urban Baseball Academy earlier this week in California. The academy will provide free instruction, in addition to tutoring for homework.
Ryan Parker '06 took home all-open New England honors in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:52.92…The distance medley relay team finished in 7th place and 2nd overall nationally in the Open New England Championships at BU….

Jane Farrell '06 came in sixth place in the pole vault event at the Open New England Championships with a leap of 10'11 3/4″. That impressive mark was good for second place in all of Division III…..The lady Judges' distance medley relay's time of 12:15.92 was good for 8th place.
Both teams compete in the UAA Championships this weekend, followed by the NCAA's the next weekend.
