To the Editor:

I am writing to express my gratitude to Herschel Simon Hartz. Not to comment on his writing, I can safely say that he saved the next eight months of my life!

How, you ask? Well, It all began on a cold Thursday morning in October, several days before the American University in Cairo notifies its Study Abroad applicants of their admission status. Having filed my application a month in advance, I was shocked to find an email from AUCs New York office informing me that they never received my application. You can imagine the emotional and mental states in which I found myself- rage, stress and the works. Laboring the entire afternoon over paperwork I had previously filled out, my challenge in the afternoon was reaching the post office in time to submit my package for an overnight expedient shipping. Waiting in the cold for a BranVan and being dismayed at each campus BranVans presence, I noticed a miracle! Like a phoenix or a Walkyrie coming to the aid of a misguided youth in a Nordic myth came storming along the peripheral road that blue Volkswagon of the new hero of our age. Herschel drove me to the post office just in time and saved my application!

For this, shukran and danke shoen!
