The Brandeis Rocky Horror performance group, occasionally known as Orgy In A Sock, will be playing this Friday! For all you who have never been to Rocky Horror, this is a truly fantastic show and an awesome experience you must have. “Come dressed or undressed as you would.” The show is only $1, and it costs another $1 for a shit bag (props you throw at cues).
BET is putting on a performance this weekend. The evening is a set of one acts from “For Whome the Southern Bell Tolls” and “The Actor's Nightmare” by Christopher Durang.
Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra is playing the beautiful music of Ludwig van Beethoven. Featuring Violin Concerto: Elliott Markow soloist;
Consecration of the House Overture;
and Symphony No. 5. This 22 year old orchestra is made up of almost 60 semi-professional and amateur local musicians. $12 for students.
Day of the Dead is upon us! No, this is not a zombie uprising, but a wonderful Mexican holiday celebrated on November first and second, based on the ancient traditions of Mexico's indigenous peoples who believed that the souls of the dead return each year to visit their families. There will be music and dancing and sugar skulls. Free admission.
Waiting between championships was a lot easier this time around for the Boston Red Sox. Overwhelming in every way, Jon Lester, Mike Lowell and Co. left little room for drama, and completed their second World Series sweep in four seasons Sunday with a 4-3 triumph over Colorado.
After months of training and a season that contained numerous ups and downs, the Mens and Womens Cross Country teams finally competed at the UAA Championships on Saturday. The meet was hosted by Brandeis and took place at Franklin Park in Boston. The weather was not at all ideal for running, as rain slowed some times. Nevertheless, the Judges did well at the meet in what is one of the most competitive Division III Cross Country conferences in the nation.
As time is of the essence and there are professional predictions of the NBA season out there already, I am offering a look at the Atlantic Division, home of our Boston Celtics (by our Im referring to Waltham, of course) followed by general predictions for the season. Enjoy.

2007 has been a year filled with stories that could be turned into Hollywood films. Tom Brady and the Patriots perfect start on the field couldn't have been scripted much better. The 8-0 Patriots have been completely dominating their opponents, and new acquisition Randy Moss has been a perfect fit in New England.
Brandeis Alumnus and Harvard Professor of the History of Medicine Allan Brandt spoke Wednesday about the legalities and history of anti-tobacco legislation in a lecture entitled Tobacco on Trial: Risk, Responsibility and Litigation. The lecture was part of the Heller Schools Joshua A. Guberman Lecture Series. It comes in conjunction with the publication of Brandts new book Cigarette Century.
Out of the 7,605 students who applied and the 2,585 that were accepted, a total of 705 freshmen, 34 transfers, and 94 midyears enrolled in the class of 2011, said Senior Vice President for Students and Enrollment Jean Eddy in a report to the Faculty Senate. 181 were accepted early decision. There are 167 students of color, 69 international students, 312 men and 393 women.
