South African journalist reviews allegations of Israeli apartheid

South African native and founding director of Yakars Center for Social Concern in Jerusalem Benjamin Pogrund spoke Wednesday at Brandeis about comparisons that have been drawn between present-day Israel and South Africa under apartheid.


Students plan trip to MidEast following Carter challenge

After several earlier attempts, a group of students have convened to organize a delegation to the West Bank following the Jan. 23 visit of former President Jimmy Carter. When Carter discussed his controversial book Palestine Peace Not Apartheid, he challenged students to visit the occupied territories for a few days to determine whether I have exaggerated or incorrectly described the plight of the Palestinians.


Student groups present gun petition to President Reinharz

Students Opposing the Decision to Arm (SODA) brought its petition to President Reinharzs office hours Thursday. SODA, composed of members of Democracy for America, the Brandeis Democrats, and Students for a Democratic Society (formally Radical Student Alliance) as well as other activists, sent 30 students to Reinharzs office hours to present their positions.

Rothman wins third straight hot dog title

It aint nothing but a hot dog for Jordan Hot Dog Crusher Rothman, the 20-year-old Brandeis University junior who ate his way to victory at the Brandies hotdog eating contest in Sherman Wednesday evening.
