Back Pages plans dorm deliveries

After several bags of books delivered to Brandeis were stolen last month, independent bookstore Back Pages Books is taking steps to prevent future theft, according to store owner Alex Green 04.


Activist Bornstein visits ‘Deis

The first of two public appearances at Brandeis by Kate Bornstein, transgendered author, performer, and activist, occurred Wednesday night in the Sherman Function Hall. In addition to Wednesdays performance, Kate will also host a more informal chat about sex in the Shapiro Atrium on Friday and will speak in multiple classes. I was fortunate enough to see Kate from three very different angles: a theorist, a performer, and a classmate.


Undergraduate Research Program finds new funding

The Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UAA) plans to reinstate the Undergraduate Research Program (URP) in the Spring 2007 semester, after it was suspended this fall due to a lack of funding, according to Michele Rosenthal, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Academic Affairs and First Year Services. The UAA also plans to hire a full-time Assistant Dean for Scholarships and Fellowships.


MTennis can’t catch Assumption

On the road against a division II opponent and missing their number 2 and 3 singles match players, there was not much left for the Judges to answer with as they fell 3-6 to Assumption College. Without them, and even with them, Coach Ben Lamana knew this would be a tough match.


WSoccer extends streak to six

After a slow start to the season, replete with back-to-back overtime losses, the Brandeis womens soccer team has come alive and kicking. The team continued its winning ways to six games with a 2-0 victory over Westfield State.


Judges tame Bears, holding them to a 3-0 Shutout

Brandeis mens soccer extended its undefeated streak to three games with a 3-0 thumping of visiting Bridgewater State on Sept. 27. Ben Premo 09 continued his offensive outburst with two goals in the contest. For the Judges, it was a strong performance against a team that is probably NCAA tournament-bound. As Coach Mike Coven put it, To beat them is another feather in our cap.


Aronow’s Week 4 NFL winning picks

Arizona v. Atlanta: Arizona has been getting beat up and the Falcons will not make it easier. The Falcons are back at home and will be looking rebound from the beating they took against the Saints. The Cardinals have a chance if they can get RB Edgerrin James to play better than he has so far this year. I say it aint happening this week. Pick: ATLANTA


X-Country guts through the Codfish Bowl

The mens and womens cross-country teams competed in the 39th annual Codfish Bowl this Saturday and both posted great results. The men were able to continue their successes from previous meets on the 8k course to earn a third place finish out of the 18 division III teams at the meet. The women showed similar success with a sixth place finish out of the 21 teams present, with Megan Bisceglia 07 finishing first out of all the division III runners on the 5K course. Both squads showed outstanding performances and set personal records at this competition.


New softball coach hired

For 32 years, Brandeis softball has only known of one coach. That has changed with Brandeis announcing the hiring of their new coach: Jessica Johnson.


Volleyball gets served at Amherst Invitational

The Brandeis womens volleyball team hit a rough patch at the Amherst College Invitational Tournament. The Judges dropped their first three matches and then finished strong with a sweep to close out the tourney 1-3.
