My major could beat up your major

You walk into class, and everyone just stares at you. You take a seat in the corner as the professor gets up and speaks, and you dont understand a thing. He says a lot of odd phrases and then apparently makes a joke, because everyones laughing. This isnt your first class in another country, its the first elective youve taken outside your major.


Student Union works to improve outreach

The eight types of people who really bother me at the gym

Now I can appreciate anyone who likes going down to the gym to get a good, honest workout in before they begin their studies. But sometimes the people that I see at Gosman Sports Complex really get under my skin for a variety of reasons. Goldman’s enemies should put their ‘personal politics’ aside

It has been a difficult couple of weeks for my friend, the Student Union Secretary Michael Goldman '08. At the Union Senate meeting on the evening of Sunday, Sept. 23rd, Student Union President Shreeya Sinha '09 entered the room to deliver her weekly update to the Senate.


Pan Asia event is a success

The Brandeis Asian-American Student Association (BAASA) hosted the annual Pan-Asia night on Wednesday at the Intercultural Center to expose the Brandeis community to the various foods from Asian cultures.


New club for MLK Scholars

The MLK & Friends club has been in the planning stages since the beginning of the Fall 2006 semester, and has finally become a recognized club. The idea came about when a group of MLK Scholars (students who received Brandeis Universitys Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship) started discussing the need for an outlet for those scholars who have such strong backgrounds in community service. The club is based on the principles that are stated in the MLK Jr. Scholarship: social justice, community service, education, and equality. The club also focuses on the ideals of community building and unity, as well as recruitment for perspective students and scholars.

DC Editorial: Students need to seek diversity

While Dean of Student Life Jamele Adams reported many positive statistics on diversity in his first annual State of Diversity address, he noted that fifty-one per cent of Brandeis undergraduates felt the University only minimally “support[ed] people in getting to know people of different backgrounds.

Dear Editor,

Mr. Dobereiners article on the efforts to arm your campus security officers was completely off base. The simplified and short sighted argument of simply using cameras to ward off potential criminals is comical at best.

Wow, I cannot actually believe you have students that believe a highly trained officer does not need a firearm! Cops needs guns because college kids and criminals have guns!
