I was walking around the grocery store yesterday, scanning the produce section in search of apples. McIntosh, Fuji, Granny Smith, Pink Lady, Gala…reds, yellows, greens…organic versus non-organic.

Mosaic in a “Fish Bowl”

Jasak named player of the week
Sarah Jasak 08 scored two goals and had an assist in the Women's socer team's season opening game against MIT on Saturday, earning her University Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week honors.
NFL 2007 Preview: Pats vs. Saints?
The back-to-school blues are easily trumped for NFL fans by the anticipation of Kickoff Sunday. All football fans, even those of the Vick-less Falcons, feels that this is the year that their team can exceed expectations and finally win the big one. But is this the year that the local (Foxboro is less than an hour away) New England Patriots return to Super Bowl glory?
‘Tis the season
During my first semester at Brandeis, the Red Sox won the World Series. As a New Jersey resident, I did not come to college caring much about the Sox, or baseball in general. However, the infection was impossible to avoid, and by October I was as caught up in the end of the curse as anyone else. It was a good month, witnessing Boston defeat the Yankees – in the greatest comeback in sports history – and then sweep the Cardinals. At the same time, the Patriots began their march to an eventual Super Bowl victory, much to my chagrin and to the delight of all my new Massachusetts friends. Many of my Sunday afternoons were spent getting heckled by Pats fans, as my favorite team, the New York Giants, stumbled to another mediocre finish.
Cross Country is underway
After a long preseason and a summer of preparation, the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams raced Bentley this Friday in what the athletes unofficially call the Waltham Championships. The Men's team was able to narrowly claim victory with a 31-28 final score, even though its top four runners were not competing at the meet.
Union focuses on diversity after controversial ad
The Brandeis Student Union, along with Assistant Dean of Student Life Jamele Adams and the Media Advisory Board, is working to promote further awareness of diversity on campus after a controversial advertisement was printed in last Spring's issue of Gravity magazine, said sources within the Student Union.
Search for new Jewish chaplain almost completed
The search for a new rabbi for Brandeis is almost at a close, say sources within the Office of Student Life. This comes after Rabbi Alan Lehmann resigned from the University in July to become the associate dean of Hebrew Colleges rabbinical school.
Game-On’s lost inventory found
The club Game-On came back from their summer break to find that their club storage space was unlocked, and some of their most valued games were taken. Group administrators of the board game club originally thought that the games were stolen last week. Officers of the organization, however, were recently notified that the materials were used as part of orientation training, and the games have since been returned.
