(AUDIO RECORDING) Reinharz meets with student press to discuss rose

President Reinharz, along with other members of the university’s senior administration, met with members of the student press Thursday at 11 a.m. for the first time since sending a press release to the Brandeis community announcing that the Board of Trustees had voted to close the Rose Art Museum. In this full recording of the press conference, Reinharz discusses his public relations blunders in announcing the decision, the reality of the university’s financial situation and what he and his fellow administrators are doing to ameliorate both the university’s public image and its financial problems.

University closes Rose art

The university will close the Rose Art Museum this June as part of an effort to minimize the university’s budget deficits cause by the nation-wide economic recession on the university, according to a press release sent out by President Jehuda Reinharz Monday night.

Reinharz announced the decision after the university’s Board of Trustees unanimously voted in favor of the move.

The decision came as a shock to most members of the Brandeis community…
